Students participating in this class will have an opportunity to learn how to use the Internet as a
research tool, how to properly download and install software, how to share files, how to use a local
area network, and how to use a shared printer.

Teacher's GuideDescribe basic and advanced searching on the Internet. Emphasize the importance of carefully judging the truthfulness or lack of truthfulness of all and any information found using the Internet. Demonstrate how easy it is for anyone to create a World Wide Web page that says anything.Emphasize how the Internet may be used to find and download audio and music. Many students find this a compelling reason to learn how to use technology resources as well as improve their basic literacy. Emphasize the responsible sharing and fair use of media. Make sure students understand the difference between sharing with a friend and selling for a profit. Make sure students know what a bibliography is and require a list of source references for all projects completed during the academic year. Describe how colleges and business use the Internet to check for original work, and the consequences of getting cought stealing information without providing proper credit. |
