Cameras
Description
A camera is used to take either still or moving pictures.
The most cost effective way to take a quality digital still image is to use a regular 35mm film camera
and have the film developed as a PhotoCD.
The quickest way to take a digital still image is with a digital camera. However, only the most
expensive professional caliber digital cameras take pictures that equal the quality of even a
disposable, card board 35mm film camera.
Digital cameras now costing less than $1000.00, do not product acceptable printed results.
Images taken with a digital camera are typically only useful for computer screen or video presentation.
Teacher's Guide
Be very selective when purchasing a digital camera if at all.
Recommendation for the 2000-2001 Academic Year
Maui Media Lab does not recommend the purchase of a digital camera at this point. Most Digital Video
cameras produce still images of equivalent or superior quality to most digital cameras. This typically
eliminates the need for a digital camera.
