Printers
Description
Printers are used to reproduce digital documents or images on paper and cardstock. There are several
kinds of printers including dot matrix, laser, impact and others including the ink jet printers,
emphasized in this curriculum.
Teacher's Guide
A printer may be directly connected to a computer, however when multiple computers are placed in
a single work space, it is much more cost effective for them to share a printer. Be aware that your
largest recurring cost will most likely be printing supplies. It is important to address this cost
with an effective usage strategy.
Recommendation for the 2000-2001 Academic Year
Maui Media Lab recommends Epson printers connect with an Ethernet interface. A USB interface is
acceptable in the single computer/single printer configuration.
